Swimming And Diving Resumes Competition Tomorrow At Yale

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team returns to the pool this weekend at Yale. The Minutemen and Minutewomen take on the Bulldogs at noon with diving set to begin at 10 a.m. in the Kiphuth Exhibition Pool.
Last Time Out
UMass claimed 11 event wins in their last meet at BU on Saturday, including 10 individual wins against the Terriers. BU took the team win with a women's score of 166-133 while the Terrier men defeated the Minutemen 173-125.
Event Wins At BU
The Minutewomen finished the day with five individual wins, beginning with a Beatriz Olivieri win in the 200 Free with a time of 1:53.00 to help score 14 points as Jane Denenberg and Anna Kwon added top-four finishes. Olivieri led three Minutewomen in the top-four of the 500 Free as well, winning her second event of the day with a time of 1:53.00. Caroline Mahoney paced a one-two UMass finish in the 100 Free with a top time of 52.82 while Maggie Desmond took second. Megan Mitchell recorded the final race win of the day with a time of 2:03.32 in the 200 Back.
The Minutemen recorded five individual event wins on the afternoon with Emerson Kiefer picking up the first in the 200 Free with a winning swim of 1:41.59 before going on to add a runner-up finish in the 500 Free. Grant Beebe led a one-two finish in the 100 Fly with Jamie MacDonald, clocking in the fastest time of 51.38 with MacDonald finishing at 52.31. MacDonald went on to lead another one-two finish for UMass, this time in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:53.85 to win while Sam Haddad took second. Tommy Cotner claimed a pair of diving wins for the Minutemen, starting his day with a score of 276.00 to win the 3-Meter Dive before going on to win the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 291.90.
Relay Win
The Minutewomen opened competition at BU with a win in the 200 Medley Relay behind a time of 1:45.16 set by Megan Mitchell, Maggie Desmond, Summer Pierce, and Caroline Mahoney. The time helped the Minutewomen defeat the Terriers in the relay by .02.
