The Minutewomen defeated the Bulldogs, 181-119, while the Minutemen secured a 205-91 victory.

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team defeated Bryant University in a dual meet at the Joseph R. Rogers Jr., Pool on Monday afternoon. The women's team won 181-119 over the Bulldogs, while the men's team came out on top 205-91.
 
Both the Minutewomen and Minutemen combined for 53 top-three finishes on the day, including 27 gold medals.
 
Women's Swimming & Diving
The Minutewomen totaled 26 top-three finishes on the day to go along, while collecting 12 gold medals.
 
Freshman Flora Klimesch began the individual events with a second-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:36.15
 
In the 200 freestyle, the Minutewomen took two spots on the podium, as junior Beren Cakiroglu swam a time of 1:53.65 to place first, while sophomore Hannah Schoenauer earned second with a time of 1:55.56.
 
The 100 backstroke saw sophomore Maria Grishaeva swim into first with a time of 57.57. Junior Lindsay Burbage sat atop the podium in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.90 with freshman Kate Baranova following in second with a time of 1:05.54.  
 
Sophomore Karinne Everly recorded a time of 2:08.58 to take second in the 200 butterfly. Sophomore Courtney Tedesco earned first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.98.
 
Cakiroglu garnered her second gold of the day with a time of 52.26 in the 100 freestyle, with Tedesco placing second with a time of 53.49. Grishaeva took first in the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 2:05.14, as junior Olga Stoura finished third with a time of 2:10.95.
 
In the 200 breaststroke, Burbage secured the gold with a time of 2:23.42, with junior Diya Ackerman-Vallala placing third with a time of 2:24.12. Klimesch grabbed the silver in the 500 freestyle with a personal-best time of 5:07.78, as Everly placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.71.
 
Ackerman-Vallala and Grishaeva closed out the individual events with a first- and second-place finish in the 200 individual medley, respectively. Ackerman-Vallala swam a time of 2:07.78, while Grishaeva had a time of 2:08.26.
In the relays, the 200 medley relay team of Grishaeva, Baranova, Everly and Tedesco combined for a time of 1:44.90 to swim into first. Cakiroglu, Burbage, Schoenauer and Ackerman-Vallala took second in the event with a time of 1:46.61.
 
The 400 freestyle relay team of Tedesco, Schoenauer, Everly and Cakiroglu claimed first with a time of 3:33.13, while the team consisting of Stoura, Baranova, Burbage and Ackerman-Vallala took second in the event with a time of 3:38.60.
 
 
Men's Swimming & Diving
The Minutemen tallied 27 top-three finishes, adding 15 gold medals on the day.
 
Freshman Miles Smyczek kicked off the individual events with a first-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle with a season-best time of 9:48.95.  
 
Senior Sammy Quigg grabbed the gold medal in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.48, while freshman Sota Kawahata took second with a season-best time of 1:42.29. Junior Cole Brooks and sophomore Chase Keeler finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. Brooks swam a season-best time of 51.13, while Keeler had a time of 51.95.
 
The Minutemen swept the podium in the 100 breaststroke. Freshman Hudson Bawduniak sat atop the podium with a personal-best time of 55.52, marking the eighth all-time mark in program history. Fellow classmate Eli Panachyda followed in second with a time of 58.31, while sophomore Nate Derby was third with a time of 58.38.
 
Junior Aydin Erkan recorded a time of 1:54.29 in the 200 butterfly to claim the gold medal. Freshman Macek Vandermolen secured the silver in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.54.
 
Quigg earned his second gold medal with a time of 45.27 in the 100 freestyle with Vandermolen placing third with a time of 47.11. Keeler swam into first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.73 as freshman Chase Dai earned second in the event with a time of 1:54.08.
 
In the 200 breaststroke, Panachyda secured the gold with a time of 2:05.60. Kawahata also earned the gold in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:41.76, while sophomore Daniel Strumidlo placed third with a time of 4:48.95.
 
Bawduniak (49.67) and Erkan (51.80) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 butterfly.
 
Keeler and Dai finished out the individual events for the Minutemen, as Keeler took first with a time of 1:55.66 and Dai placed second with a time of 1:56.97.
 
During the relay events, the team of Keeler, Bawduniak, senior Aidan Shepston and Quigg placed first with a time of 1:32.71 in the 200 medley relay. Brooks, Dai , Erkan and Vandermolen took third in the event with a combined time of 1:34.22.
 
In the 400 freestyle relay, sophomore Liam Rayson, Shepston, Vandermole and Quigg took first with a combined time of 3:05.11. The team of Brooks, junior Alonso Montori, Strumidlo and Kawahata placed third in the event with a time of 3:10.26.
 
On The Boards
In the three-meter dive, sophomore Danielle Guerin secured the gold with a six-dive total of 283.50. Fellow classmate Khrystyna Yaremyn garnered the bronze with a score of 273.30.  
 
The one-meter dive for the Minutewomen saw sophomore Guerin pick up her second gold medal with a total of 282.45, while Yaremyn earned her second bronze of the day with a score of 255.45.  
 
For the Minutemen, sophomore Alex Kreidler secured first in the one-meter with a personal-best score of 358.50, marking the third-best mark in program history. Freshman Carson Harrington followed close behind in second with a six-dive total of 316.50.  
 
In the three-meter, Kreidler grabbed his second gold of the afternoon after earning a total of 367.73, as Harrington earned his second silver medal with a score of 344.63.  
 
Kreidler took second in the event with a six-dive total of 369.53, which marked a personal-best and the fourth-best score in program history.

The women's team travels to Storrs, Connecticut, for a dual meet against UConn at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 10. 

Both the men's and women's swim team then prepare for the Tate Ramsden Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth, on Friday, January 16 through Saturday, January 17, in Hanover, New Hampshire. Friday's events begin at 5 p.m., while Saturday's event start at 10 a.m. and complete at 3 p.m.
