Quigg, Kreidler and Bawduniak earn weekly honors.
AMHERST, Mass. – Senior Sammy Quigg, junior Alex Kreidler and freshman Hudson Bawduniak swept the Missouri Valley Conference weekly men's swim & dive accolades. Quigg was named Swimmer of the Week, Kreidler tabbed Diver of the Week and Bawduniak garnered Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
Quigg and the Minutemen defeated Bryant, 205-91, on Monday, as Quigg earned two individual gold medals on the afternoon. Quigg swam a time of 1:40.88 in the 200 freestyle to place first, before sitting atop the podium in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.27.
Quigg anchored the 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 1:32.71. He also anchored the 400 freestyle relay team, as the team combined for a time of 3:05.11 to claim the gold.
Kreidler earned two gold medals as the junior sat atop the podium in the one-meter dive with a score of 358.50, which marked the third-best record in program history. He also placed first in the three-meter with a total of 367.73.
Bawduniak earned two gold medals in individual events. In the 100 breaststroke, Bawduniak swam a personal-best time of 55.52, marking the eighth all-time mark in program history. He also tied for first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.67. The freshman placed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:57.32.
In the relay events, Bawduniak aided the 200 medley relay team to a time of 1:32.71 to place first.
The swimming and diving team prepares for the Tate Ramsden Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth, on Friday, January 16 through Saturday, January 17, in Hanover, New Hampshire. Friday's events begin at 5 p.m., while Saturday's event start at 10 a.m. and complete at 3 p.m.
