Men’s Hoops Defeats AIC In Exhibition, 94-68

AMHERST, Mass. – Five Minutemen finished in double figures as the Massachusetts men's basketball team rolled to a 94-68 win over AIC in an exhibition contest on Tuesday evening in the Mullins Center. Isaac Kante posted a double-double with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting and a tied for game-high 10 rebounds.

Matt Cross added 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists on the night, including nine of the first 14 UMass points as the Minutemen strung together 16 unanswered points to take a 21-7 lead with 13 minutes left in the opening half.

Dyondre Dominguez poured in 16 points in 20 minutes off the bench, including 11 in the first half on 4-of-5 from the field. The Minutemen shot just under 66-percent from the field in the first 20 minutes and finished the game at 51-percent.

Massachusetts ended the first half on an 11-0 scoring run to take a 56-31 lead into the locker room for the halftime break. Noah Fernandes scored five of his 10 points in the final minute of the half and added four rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes of action.

Keon Thompson pitched in 10 points while fellow freshman RJ Luis added eight points and five rebounds.

Massachusetts begins the regular season on Monday at 7:30 p.m. against Central Connecticut State in the Mullins Center.
