UMass' Connors And Brady Collect Hockey East Weekly Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey freshman Kenny Connors and junior Cole Brady have been recognized by Hockey East after the Minutemen's sweep of Union last weekend. Connors was selected as the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week and Brady was tabbed the Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week.

Connors had five points in a two-game sweep of Union for the Minutemen with two goals and three assists, all coming on the power play and was +2 with seven shots and three blocks. The Glen Mills, Pennsylvania native factored in all three UMass power-play goals on Friday, scoring two in the 7-1 victory, including the game winner and dishing an assist. He followed up with his second multi-point game of the weekend, dishing two assists on the power play in Saturday's 7-0 win.

Brady picked up his first collegiate shutout in his UMass debut, stopping all 32 shots he faced in Saturday's 7-0 win over Union. The Pickering, Ontario native had nine saves that came on the power play as the Minutemen held Union to a 0-for-6 night with the man advantage.

UMass will close out its five-game homestand this Friday, October 28, when the squad will play host to Merrimack in its Hockey East opener at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center.
