Game 2
Rhode Island 7, UMass 5
UMass answered a two-run first inning for the Rams, leveling the score at two with an RBI single by Judd in the bottom of the first to score Shapiro, followed up in the third by a base hit by second baseman Eddy Hart that plated Skagerlind.
Shortstop Chris Pearsons put the Minutemen in front in the last of the fourth with a double that drove in first baseman Steve Luttazi, then Pearsons himself came home 90 feet on a wild pitch later in the frame, giving the Maroon and White a 4-2 lead. But Rhody would battle back with a three-spot in the fifth and two more in the seventh to take the lead back for good.
Skagerlind reached on an error to lead off the seventh, then a grounder to third by Hart led to another error that put Skagerlind on third and brought the tying run to the plate. Designated hitter Mike Gervasi singled to score Skagerlind and put the tying run on base, but URI's Vitaly Jangols closed the door inducing a strikeout and groundout to end the ballgame.
Justin Cherry was the winning pitcher, Jangols picked up the save and the loss went to Matt Aronson.
Following the doubleheader, Judd has now reached base in a career-best 17 straight games.
