Fordham Takes Series Finale from Baseball

Minutemen split series following 11-1 setback Sunday in the Bronx
Eddy Hart went 2-for-4 and scored a run in a game where Hart split time between shortstop and second base. Designated hitter Mike Gervasi also had a pair of hits including a double.
The Rams capitalized on two Massachusetts errors to set up the scoring in the second and third frames, as none of Fordham's first six runs were earned. An additional three spot in the fifth bumped Fordham's lead to 9-0.
UMass got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth, beginning with a little small ball. Hart laid down a bunt single, stole second and moved up to third on Gervasi's one-out single. He came home on a groundout by first baseman Steve Luttazi.
Gabe Karslo went six innings in the win for Fordham, and starter Tyler Dalton took the loss for the Minutemen.
Massachusetts returns to action on Tues., May 4 in a 4 p.m. game vs. Boston College at Earl Lorden Field. It will begin a nine-game homestand to close out the regular season for the Minutemen.
