Women’s Track & Field Caps Off Home Slate With Win Over Hartford And UVM

The Minutewomen posted seven new all-time marks in the program’s record book.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field finished its home schedule with a perfect slate, posting a first-place team finish for the fourth time this season with a score of 219, followed by Vermont (76) and Hartford (70) at the UMass Track & Field Complex on Sunday. The Minutewomen saw individuals register seven new top-five all-time marks in the program's record book on the day.

Senior Jada Harris was victorious in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, 9.75 inches, improving upon her program record in the event. Harris also triumphed in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.12, followed by Alexandra Gonet (15.14) and Emma Jones (15.20). In long jump, Emily McDonald took first at 18 feet, 8.50 inches, and Danielle Reicherts followed in second (18 feet, 6.5 inches). McDonald captured the top spot in triple jump, as well, at 38 feet, 10.5 inches, while Jessica Dronzek was second (35'11.5") and Caroline Ward was third (35'3"). In pole vault, Sophia Casciano cleared a height of 11 feet, 1.75 inches, good for first in the event.

Cheyenne Figueroa won hammer with a throw of 181 feet, 0 inches, bettering her previous No. 2 all-time mark. Voski Armenakyan claimed second with a mark of 168 feet, 9 inches, good for fourth all-time in program history. In javelin, Anna Cozzolino posted a mark of 132 feet, 0 inches for second place. Danielle Notarfrancesco threw 50 feet, 2.75 inches in the shot put to claim first to break her own school record in the event. Lauren LaDere finished second in shot put with a throw of 47 feet 5.25 inches, improving her No. 5 all-time mark. Freshman Gabriella Pagnini took second in discus with a distance of 126 feet, 1 inch and senior Kelly Alves placed third at 125 feet, 1 inch.

Lily Robinson ran 11:12.24 in steeplechase, good for fifth all-time in program history, while Catherine Curtin placed fourth at 11:23.08. Caroline Clark collected first in the 1500m with a time of 4:37.04 and Colette O'Leary ran 4:37.30 on her heels to claim second. In the 800 meter run, Alexina Hurley raced to second with a time of 2:19.99, followed by teammate Samantha Schwers (2:20.74).

In the 400-meter hurdles, Lillian Kirry posted the No. 4 all-time performance in program history, clocking in at 1:01.42. Elizabeth Hoenes placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.93, followed closely by Caroline Schissel (26.33). Schissel won 100 meter dash with a time of 12.60.
In the 4x100 meter relay, UMass' team of Rachel Labonte, Kira Kopec, Jensen Kingsley, and Jones ran the top time of 50.48 seconds.

The Minutewomen return to action on Saturday, May 1 when the squad will kick off the Atlantic 10 Championships at George Mason at 10 a.m.
