UMass Lowell Tops Minutewomen Women's Soccer, 3-0

LOWELL, Mass. – Alyssa Chase made a career-high seven saves, but three strikes from UMass Lowell (1-1-1) in a four-minute span proved to be the difference as the River Hawks knocked off the Massachusetts women's soccer team (1-2-0), 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Cushing Field.
UMass Lowell outshot UMass 18-4 for the match (10-2 shots on goal) and earned five corners to the Minutewomen's four.
After keeping the match level through 45 minutes thanks to three saves from Chase, UML drew first blood when Lily Fabian buried her first of the season off a feed from Hailey DuBose.
That gave momentum to the hosts, who then scored twice in less than two minutes when Kristin Birgisdottir and Courtney Coleman both found the back of the net to give UMass Lowell a commanding lead late.
Massachusetts will be back in action on Thursday when the Minutewomen open Atlantic 10 play vs. Rhode Island at McGuirk Alumni Stadium at 2 p.m.
