Hot Start
The Minutemen are off to a 4-0 start to their 2021 campaign, marking the best start for a UMass squad since the 1992 season. Through four contests, the Minutemen have outscored their opponents 11-2 with three shutout victories. UMass has also put 28-of-53 (52.8%) shot attempts on target with an average of 13.3 shots per contest.

Last Time Out
UMass bounced back after falling down a goal early to UMass Lowell in their last time out, rallying for a 4-2 win with the help of a pair of goals in the final eight minutes of play. Tyler Mann came up with the equalizer in the 20th-minute before Ben Shepherd scored 10 minutes later off an assist from Yosuke Hanya. Freshman Alec Hughes scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd-minute off a Ryan Levay assist before Graham Brenner capped off the victory with one in the 85th-minute.

The Opponents
La Salle comes into Amherst with a 3-1 record and on a two-match win streak following wins over Mount St. Mary's and Drexel. The Explorers are led by Junior Nare's three goals and one assist on the year while outscoring their opponents by a goal per contest. Rhode Island holds a 1-1 record after their original A-10 opener against La Salle on March 13 was canceled. The Rams fell to Providence 4-0 in the season opener before picking up a 1-0 win over UMass Lowell.

Looking Ahead
Following their two matchups against La Salle and URI, the Minutemen are set to wrap up home play for the regular season on March 24 at 5:30 p.m. against Fordham on ESPN+. UMass then hits the road for its final three regular season contests, heading to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Saint Joseph's on March 27 for the first road A-10 game of 2021.
