NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - University of Massachusetts baseball faltered in the final game of its weekend series with Merrimack and fell to the Warriors, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped UMass to 4-3 on the season while Merrimack improved to 3-5 overall.

Max LeBlanc, Tucker Wittman and Matt Aronson provided scoreless relief over the final six innings with only four hits and two walks allowed against five strikeouts.
The Warriors plated two in the bottom of the first inning. Joey Porricelli scored on a one-out, bases-loaded walk one batter before Kurtis Stadnicki pushed home the second run on a fielder's choice groundout.
Massachusetts cut the deficit in half in the top of third. Kevin Skagerlind reached first on a hit-by-pitch with one out in the frame before Judd moved him into scoring position with a single to left center field. Aidan Wilde struck out during the ensuing at bat; however, a throw down to third base got away from Alex Haba and allowed Skagerlind to score.
Merrimack built its lead back to a pair in the bottom of third. Stadnicki walked, Thomas Crowley singled and Thomas Joyce followed with a RBI base knock to center field.
The Minutemen threatened again in the fifth inning but were ultimately unable to close the gap. Eddy Hart walked and Skagerlind advanced him to second with a groundout. Judd then took first on a hit-by-pitch before Wilde drew a full-count walk to load the bases with two outs. Mike Gervasi stepped to the plate next but grounded out to end the inning.
