The graduate student was the runner-up in pentathlon with a score or 3,667.

KINGSTON, R.I. – Seven individuals from University of Massachusetts track and field programs were in action at the URI Multi Meet on Thursday and Friday. Graduate student Kira Kopec led the group, taking second in women's pentathlon with a score of 3,667.
 
Kopec was fifth in 60 meter hurdles (9.11 seconds, 887 points), third in high jump (5'1.25", 689 points), second in shot put (39'5.75", 663 points), fourth in long jump (17'7", 660 points) and second in 800 meter run (2:24.13, 768 points).
 
Sophomore Lillian Kirry took fourth in the field of 21 competitors with a score of 3,305, bolstered by a win in 60 meter hurdles (8.86, 939 points), the fourth fastest 60 hurdles time in program history. She also took third in 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.25 for 767 points and fifth in long jump (17'7", 684 points).
 
Three more Minutewomen were in action: Katelyn Gorgenyi placed 14th with a score of 2,814, Madison Witt took 19th (2,513) and Heather Kurland was 21st (2,093).
 
In men's heptathlon Matthew Tarantino was ninth with a score of 4,054 and Mason Miller followed in 10th (3,243). Tarantino's best performance came in pole vault where he cleared a height of 11 feet 9.75 inches, good for third in the field for 509 points.
 
The squads will be back in action on Friday, January 7, with a trip to Cambridge, Mass., for the Harvard Multi Meet followed by the Beantown Challenge on January 8.
