Pidde Wins 1650 Freestyle Gold On Final Day Of Atlantic 10 Championships

Tyler Pidde claimed the 1650 Free gold with the second-fastest time in program history.
GENEVA, Ohio – Tyler Pidde won the 1650 Freestyle gold with the second-fastest time in program history as the Minutemen wrapped up competition at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the SPIRE Institute on Saturday evening. The Minutemen finished sixth overall as a team with 345.5 points over the fourn days.

Pidde's time of 15:25.89 led the way for three UMass swimmers in the top-10 of the 1650 Free as all three clocked in top-10 program marks. Harry Ortof finished sixth with a time of 15:46.73 to rank eighth-fastest at UMass while Emerson Kiefer finished with a time of 15:51.28 to rank 10th in the record books.

Casey Ransford broke his own UMass program record on his way to a fourth-place finish in the 200 Fly, finishing with a prelims time of 1:47.57 before going on to swim 1:47.95 in the finals.

Noah Witt put together a top-five finish in the 200 Back for the Minutemen, posting the fourth-fastest UMass mark with a time of 1:46.50 to take fifth.

Luther Gordon and Al Madden both added top-15 finishes in the 200 Breaststroke, led by Gordon in 11th with a time of 2:02.62 while Madden finished 15th with the fifth-fastest time in program history of 2:02.88.

Robert Katz reached his second diving finals of the week tonight in the 3-Meter Dive, scoring 295.00 in the finals to finish sixth while Tommy Cotner won the consolation final with a score of 269.40 to finish ninth overall.
