Malyszka Posts Second-Fastest Program Mark In 500 Free On Day Two Of Championships

Kelly Malyszka set the second-fastest time in program history to take seventh in the 500 Free.
GENEVA, Ohio. – Kelly Malyszka clocked in the second-fastest 500 Free time in program history on Thursday as the Minutewomen wrapped up day two at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the SPIRE Institute.

Malyszka's time of 4:55.59 in the finals earned the junior a seventh-place finish and 12 points while Bella Snyder finished in 17th with a time of 4:59.21 in the prelims.

A pair of freshmen in Jane Denenberg and Summer Pierce added top-10 program marks in the 200 IM as Denenberg finished with a time of 2:05.83 to rank fifth-fastest in program history. Summer Pierce's time of 2:05.88 was good for sixth-fastest at UMass as the two finished inside the top-25 on the day.

Chelsea Meiring put together a top-UMass time of her own, clocking in the ninth-fastest swim in the 50 Free with a time of 23.75 as she finished in 17th.

Meiring helped the Minutewomen to 28 points in the 200 Free Relay to close out the day, combining with Stephanie Judge, Kirsten Ardis and Emily Rudiman to finish fifth with a time of 1:33.57.

The Minutewomen continue action at the championships tomorrow morning with the prelims at 10 a.m. followed by the 3-Meter Dive at 1 p.m. with the finals set for 6:30 p.m.
