UMass’ Gicewicz Selected As Hockey East Player Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey redshirt senior forward Carson Gicewicz has been selected as the Hockey East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Gicewicz earns the honor for the first time in his career and is the third Minuteman to receive the recognition this season, joining senior Oliver Chau and junior Bobby Trivigno.

Gicewicz had a three-point night, which included two goals and an assist, to help UMass to its third straight win last week, 6-2 over UConn. It marked the Orchard Park, New York native's second straight two-goal effort as he earned the game's No. 1 star.

Over the past two games, Gicewicz has five points (4g, 1a) and nine points (5g, 4a) over his past six contests. He currently ranks second on the squad in scoring and leads Hockey East with 0.56 goals per-game.
