Men’s Track & Field Opens Harvard Multi Meet And Beantown Challenge Friday

O’Brien enters top-five in program history for weight throw.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field opened the Harvard Multi Meet and Beantown Challenge on Friday. Through three scored events, the Minutemen rank fifth in the team standings with five points.
Junior Coston O'Brien set a PR in weight throw for a second straight meet, moving up to fifth all-time in program history with a toss of 56 feet, 11.5 inches. Senior Noah Korthkamp also scored, taking seventh in 60 meter hurdles in 8.33 seconds after running 8.30 in preliminaries.
Through four events in heptathlon sophomore Matthew Tarantino is fourth with 2458 points after ending day one with a win in high jump, clearing 6 feet, 2.75 inches for 714 points. Thomas O'Donoghue follows in fifth with 2,405 points.
Competition resumes on Saturday, Jan. 11, with shot put at 11:30 a.m.
