Women’s Soccer Rallies Past George Mason, 4-2

Kössler leads charge with five points as Minutewomen score four times in the second half.
After a few early opportunities for UMass, George Mason managed to get on the board first in the 33rd minute. Jisca Adigo sent a cross into the box for the Patriots that deflected past goalkeeper Peyton Ryan.
Midway through the second half though, UMass tied the score and took the lead in a matter of 56 seconds. Freshmen Ansley Fraizer and Serena Ahmed set up senior Rebeca Frisk with a feed that she finished from six yards out at 62:24.
Frazier then played a ball over the top for freshman Melissa Kössler who was able to get in behind the Patriots back line and boot her sixth of the season past goalkeeper Morgan Symmers to put the Minutewomen on top, 2-1 in the 64th minute.
Kössler struck again at the 68:13 mark, adding some insurance off a through ball from Frisk that she rung in off the inside of the far post.
Adigo pulled George Mason back to within one with her second of the night in the 79th minute, but UMass sealed the win with freshman Serena Ahmed's first collegiate goal, set up by Kössler in the 83rd minute. The helper marked Kössler's fifth point of the night, marking her third game of the season with four or more points.
The Minutewomen finished the evening with a 12-7 shot advantage and led in corner kicks, 8-2. Ryan had three saves for UMass and Symmers logged four stops for the Patriots.
Next up for the Minutewomen is a trip to Saint Joseph's this Sunday, Sept. 29. The match time is set for 1 p.m. in Philadelphia.
