The forward who logged 51 points in the USHL this season will join the Minutemen for 2019-20.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added 6'0", 179-pound forward Reed Lebster to its incoming freshman class for the 2019-20 campaign, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Thursday. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native signed his National Letter of Intent with the Minutemen after playing three seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Des Moines Buccaneers.

"Reed really exploded as a player this past year in the USHL and showed his talent for scoring goals," said Carvel. "He has the potential to be a very good offensive player in Hockey East and as he gets physically stronger, he will become more dangerous. Reed is another gifted offensive player that will add to our scoring depth."

Lebster saw action in 178 games in his career with Des Moines and logged 84 points on 43 goals and 41 assists. He enjoyed a breakout year offensively in his final year of junior hockey in 2018-19, more than doubling his previous career best in points with 25 goals and 26 assists for 51 points over 62 regular season games and five playoff contests.
