Men’s Swimming And Diving Names 2018-19 Award Winners

The Minutemen handed out eight team awards at their annual banquet on Friday.

AMHERST, Mass. The University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team announced its 2018-19 team award winners at the annual banquet on Friday. The Minutemen handed out eight team awards and announced their captains for the 2019-20 season as Panagiotis Androulidakis, Luther Gordon and Casey Ransford were all named to the role.
 
Ransford was named the team's Most Valuable Performer after setting a new program record time of 1:48.17 in the 200 Butterfly at the Atlantic 10 Championships on his way to finishing fourth in the event. The sophomore was named to the A-10 All-Academic Team for the first time as he added another top-10 finish at the league meet in the 100 Butterfly with the fifth-fastest time in UMass program history.
 
Gordon earned the Minuteman Award for the second straight season after being named to the A-10 All-Academic Team for the second straight year as he recorded a top-10 finish at the league championships in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
Eric Pauls was tabbed the team's Most Improved Performer while Anthony Rizzo earned the S.T.U.D Award and Kellen Gray was named the Iron Man. Robert Katz was selected as the Diver Dude with Chase Kent picking up the Coaches Award. Freshman Dias Konysbayev was tabbed the team's Rookie of the Year.
