Commonwealth Connections
UMass redshirt freshman infielder Kane Medina hails from Newton, Massachusetts, as does Holy Cross infielder and pitcher Cam Meyer. In addition, sophomore Frank DiOrio attended St. John's Prep along with Holy Cross' Andrew Selima.

Hey Oh, Shapiro
Redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro has reached base safely in all 12 games for the Minutemen this season, hitting .256 with a triple and six RBI. Accomplishing that feat in his first season of Division I competition, Shapiro is the first Minuteman since at least 1996 to do so.

Videtto at First
After a brief two-way stint in the 2018 season, redshirt sophomore Anthony Videtto has held down first base as well as the cleanup spot in all 12 games this year. Videtto, a native of Kingston, Massachusetts, checks in with a team-high .341 batting average in part on the strength of three doubles and six RBI.

Nine is Fine
Every player in the Massachusetts lineup, one through nine, contributed at least one hit in the Sun., March 10 win at UT Rio Grande Valley by a 14-11 score. As a team, the Maroon and White tallied a season-best 13 hits with four Minutemen contributing two in senior Logan Greene, junior Nolan Kessinger, redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro and redshirt sophomore Anthony Videtto. Despite finishing just 1-for-6 on the day, redshirt sophomore Connor Smith sparked the squad early with his first career grand slam, which gave the ball club an early 4-0 lead.

Lasko Tabbed Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week
For his efforts at Navy on Sat., March 2, Lasko was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander scattered five hits and struck out eight Midshipmen, three short of a career-high and lowering his ERA to 0.61. His outing capped a terrific doubleheader on the part of the UMass pitching staff, as Minuteman arms worked a total of 20 innings without surrendering a run.

On Deck
Atlantic 10 play begins for the Minutemen on Fri., March 22 with a 6:30 p.m. series opener at VCU from Richmond, Virginia.
