UMass men's lacrosse duo to compete in 2020 European Lacrosse Championship

DUBLIN, Ireland - University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse teammates and brothers Kevin Tobin and Mike Tobin earned selection to the Ireland Lacrosse National Team for the organization's upcoming berth in the European Lacrosse Championship (ELC). The event will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, from July 23 - August 1, 2020.

Kevin Tobin, a junior midfielder, was an All-CAA selection in 2019, during which he posted a career-best 41 points via 20 goals and 21 assists. A steady producer, he had at least one point 13 of 15 games, including the final 11 of the year. Mike Tobin is in his first season playing in the midfield and on attack for the Minutemen following a standout career at Reading Memorial High School in Reading, Massachusetts.

The European Lacrosse Championship, founded in 1995, serves to determine the top national team in Europe. The 2020 edition of the tournament is the 11th-such holding of the championship. Ireland participated in each of the last six European Lacrosse Championship events. The country's highest finish came in 2012 when the Irish squad finished as silver medalists.

Kevin Tobin and Mike Tobin become the fourth and fifth Minutemen to earn spots on national teams in recent years. They join Will Manny (Team USA), Isaac Paparo (Israel) and Luc Valenza (Italy) in national team competition.
