Minutemen Set 200 Medley Relay Pool Record In Win Over BU

UMass broke a pool record on their way to a 196-95 win over Boston University on Saturday afternoon.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team opened up their day in the pool by setting a new Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool record in the 200 Medley Relay on their way to a 196-95 win over Boston University on Saturday afternoon. Michael Tartakovsky, Al Madden, Will Munstermann and Ryan Pedrick clocked in a new pool record time of 1:31.59 as UMass picked up 15 points in the opening relay.
Emerson Kiefer followed the very next race by rallying to take the top-spot in the 1000 Free, coming from behind to clock in a time of 9:37.75 as the Minutemen also took third and fourth in the distance swim. Panagiotis Androulidakis grabbed another win for UMass right after in the 200 Free, tying for first with a time of 1:43.15.
UMass swept the top-three spots in both the 100 Back and 100 Fly, beginning with a Seamus Trzewik-Quinn winning swim of 51.54 in the 100 Back as Munstermann and Noah Witt rounded out the top-three. The freshman Witt went on to win the 200 Back later in the meet with a time of 1:52.16 while Trzewik-Quinn finished in second.
Munstermann set the pace in the 100 Fly sweep with a top-time of 50.96 to lead all Minutemen as Casey Ransford and Ethan Davey finished in second and third respectively. Munstermann added a win in the 100 Free, posting a time of 47.29 while Dias Konysbayev tied for second with a time of 47.80.
Jamie MacDonald won a pair of races for the Minutemen as the freshman started his day by taking the 200 Fly with a time of 1:52.38 followed by Ransford in third. MacDonald added his second win in the final individual race of the afternoon with a time of 1:56.35 in the 200 IM followed by Konysbayev in second.
Ryan Pedrick added a win for UMass in the 50 Free as the senior clocked in the top-swim if 21.24 while Tartakovsky finished as the runner-up. Al Madden led another one-two finish for UMass in the 100 Breast, leading the way with a time of 56.67 with Luther Gordon finishing in second.
On the diving side, Tommy Cotner took the 1-Meter Dive while Noah Kanner finished second before Kanner went on to win the 3-Meter Dive.
UMass will be away from the competition pool before returning to action on Nov. 22-24 at the Terrier Invitational while the divers will head to the WVU Invitational in Morgantown, W.V.
