Tennis Downs Saint Joseph's In Atlantic 10 Championship Opener

Minutewomen take 4-0 match from Hawks, face Davidson in quarterfinals
ORLANDO, Fla. - No. 6-seeded University of Massachusetts tennis bettered No. 11-seeded Saint Joseph's in the opening match of the Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted at the USTAÂ National Campus in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday. The Minutewomen improved to 11-6 overall with the win and advanced to the quarterfinal round, where the Maroon and White meet No. 3 seed Davidson (16-4) on Fri., April 27 at 3 p.m.
Massachusetts claimed the doubles points on the strength of match wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Laura Moreno and Ruth Crawford (No. 1) downed Amanda Nava and Isis Gill-Reid 6-1 moments after Ana Yrazusta and Anna Napadiy (No. 3) teamed for a 6-0 shutout of Maureen Devlin and Katherine Devlin.
The Maroon and White completed the 4-0 sweep with wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
Martina Bocchi doubles the team lead when she wrapped up a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Katherine Devlin at the No. 6 spot. Yrazusta made it two match victories for the senior on the day when she downed Maureen Devlin 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Janja Kovacevic sealed the triumph at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 final score over Laura Gomez.
