Women’s Swimming And Diving Announces Team Awards

The Minutewomen handed out their 2017-18 team awards at their banquet last week and named captains for next season.

AMHERST, Mass. The University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team announced their 2017-18 team awards at their annual banquet last week, naming Ansley Baker the Most Valuable Swimming Performer while Maja Boric earned the Most Valuable Diving Performer award.
 
Baker capped off the season by setting a new program-best mark in the 100 Breaststroke at the Atlantic 10 Championships, breaking her own previous program-record with a time of 1:01.57. The junior also broke a Rogers Pool record against Boston University back on Nov. 7, breaking a five-year-old pool record in the 100 Free with a swim of 51.27 on her way to being named the Atlantic 10 Women's Performer of the Week.
 
Boric qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives after locking up a pair of automatic bids with two fourth-place finishes at the NCAA Zone A Championships. At the Atlantic 10 meet, Boric led a UMass diving podium sweep of the 3-Meter Dive with the top score of 328.70.
 
Sarah Jacobs was named the Most Improved Performer while Kelly Malyszka picked up both Rookie of the Year honors and the Spike Award. Emily Zimmermann received the Coaches Award.
 
Head Coach Bob Newcomb also announced the team captains for the 2018-19 season, naming Baker, Maddie Biron and Katie Polk to the roles.
