Ransford Sets Program Record In 200 Fly, UMass Finishes Fourth

GENEVA, Ohio – Freshman Casey Ransford set a new program record in the 200 Fly on Saturday evening as the University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team finished fourth with 411 points at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Institute.

Ransford's program-record time of 1:48.52 in the 200 Fly put the freshman in fifth-place in his first A-10 Championships as he grabbed 14 points for the Minutemen in the event.

Tyler Pidde opened up the final session with a runner-up finish in the 1,650 Free, posting the third-fastest time in UMass program history with a mark of 15:36.37 while Harry Ortof posted a top-10 time of his own with a swim of 15:53.93. Chase Kent finished 11^th to give UMass 36 points in the opening race.

Luke Gordon recorded his own top-three program mark in the 200 Breast on his way to finishing eighth with a time of 2:02.59 in the 200 Breast.

Owen Wright picked up 12 points in the 100 Free, capping off his individual races at the championships with a seventh-place finish with a swim of 44.90.

UMass placed three swimmers in the consolation final of the 200 Back as Chris DiGiacomo took third in with a swim of 1:48.44 while Kellen Gray and Seamus Trzewik-Quinn finished fifth and seventh respectively.

The Minutemen closed out the championships in the 400 Free Relay as Wright, Gray, DiGiacomo and Kyle Stefanides combined for a time of 3:00.48 on their way to finishing sixth in the relay.
