Wright Sets New UMass Mark, Minutemen In Fourth After Day Two

Owen Wright set a new UMass program record in the 50 Free while Panagiotis Androulidakis and Chris DiGiacomo posted top-10 times.
GENEVA, Ohio – Owen Wright posted a new UMass program record in the 50 Free with a time of 20.24 as the senior picked up 16 points for a Minuteman squad that sits in fourth place with 175 points after two days of competition at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Institute.

Wright put together a time of 20.47 in the preliminaries to earn a spot in the finals earlier in the day while teammate Ryan Pedrick went on to take first in the consolation final to secure nine more points for the Minutemen with a swim of 20.70.

Panagiotis Androulidakis put together the seventh-fastest time in UMass program history in the opening event of the finals session this evening, the 500 Free. Androulidakis finished third in the prelims with a time of 4:28.91 to rank in the top-10 at UMass for fastest time in the event before going on to place seventh in the finals with a time of 4:30.77.

Chris DiGiacomo put together another top-10 swim on the day, this in the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.02 in the finals to grab 13 points. DiGiacomo's finals time ranks fourth-fastest all-time at UMass in the event.

The 200 Free Relay team of Wright, Pedrick, Kyle Stefanides and Kellen Gray closed out the day with another 26 points by finishing sixth with a time of 1:21.78.

Competition at the A-10 Championships continues into tomorrow beginning with the 400 IM preliminaries at 10 a.m. while the finals will begin at 6:30 p.m.
