Swimming And Diving Wraps Up Opening Day Of A-10 Championships

Competition continues with day two tomorrow with the 500 Free preliminaries at 10 a.m.

GENEVA, Ohio – The University of Massachusetts men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up day one of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Wednesday afternoon. The championship meet continues into tomorrow, beginning with the 500 Freestyle preliminary heats at 10 a.m.
 
Trent Kindvall and Reece Donahue finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 1-Meter Dive with scores of 292.25 and 268.75, each improving on their score from the preliminary dive earlier in the day.
 
Owen Wright, Chris DiGiacomo, Oliver Wyeth and Panagiotis Androulidakis put together a fourth-place swim in the 800 Free Relay in one of two swimming events on Wednesday evening, posting a time of 6:35.39. The Minutemen finished sixth in the opening relay of the night with a time of 1:29.31 posted by Kellen Gray, Al Madden, Kyle Stefanides and Ryan Pedrick.
 
The Minutewomen finished sixth in both the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay in their first events of the championship meet. Maddie Biron, Ansley Baker, Rachel Grant and Mariam Labib posted a time of 1:42.70 in the 200 Medley to finish sixth before Baker combined with Mariam Labib, Paige Mitchell and Kelly Malyszka to record a time of 7:24.76 in the 800 Free Relay.
