UMass Wraps Up Terrier With Four Top-10 Finishes On Final Day

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's swimming team picked up four top-10 finishes to go along with 10 top-20 performances as they wrapped up competition at the Terrier Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Minutewomen finished the weekend with a team score of 345 to finish sixth.

UMass picked up two of their top-10 finishes and four of the top-20 finishers in the 100 Freestyle finals, led by Ansley Baker's fifth-place finish with a swim of 51.64 with Mariam Labib placing eighth with 52.40. The duo posted times of 51.44 and 51.74 to finish second and fifth in the prelims while Rachel Grant and Paige Mitchell each went on to finish in the top-20 in the evening finals.

Maddie Biron improved on her preliminary time of 2:05.15 in the 200 Backstroke to clock in a time of 2:04.68 in the finals to finish 10th while Meghan Gray finished 20th.

Samantha Schieffelin finished 13th in the 200 Breaststroke to round out the individual events for the weekend, posting a time of 2:24.26 to lead all Minutewomen with Mia Flagiello finishing in 19th with a time of 2:24.64.

UMass finished out the night with a seventh-place showing in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:29.52 put together by Grant, Labib, Mitchell and Baker.

The Minutewomen will be away from competition for nearly two months before they return home to Joseph R. Rogers Pool on Jan. 12 to host Bryant at noon.
