Minutewomen Swim Past Vermont On The Road, 194-106

The Minutewomen claimed 14 event wins to go along with 30 top-three performances in their first road dual.
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team claimed 30 top-three performances to go along with 14 event wins as the Minutewomen swam by Vermont 194-106 on Saturday afternoon at Forbush Natatorium. On the diving side, UMass swept the top-two spots for the second straight meet as Katie Polk claimed the 1-Meter Dive with a pool record score of 284.04 while Maja Boric won the 3-Meter.

Polk's record score in the 1-Meter Dive edged out her teammate Boric's score of 281.24 before the two swapped spots in the 3-Meter Dive as Boric's score of 277.35 led all divers.

Ansley Baker continued her strong early season form as she claimed three event wins on the afternoon, winning her first in a UMass sweep of the top-three spots in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.36 followed by Chelsea Meiring and Mia Flagiello in second and third. Baker went on to post the top swim of 23.90 in the 50 Freestyle before winning the 100 Free with mark of 51.83 as Mariam Labib claimed the runner-up spot.

Labib won the first individual race of the day in the 200 Freestyle as the sophomore set the pace with a swim of 1:55.69 while Brie Harnden followed in third with a time of 1:58.62. Labib helped give the Minutewomen a pair of relay wins to open up and close the meet, combining with Maddie Biron, Meiring and Rachel Grant to claim the 200 Medley Relay to start before winning the 200 Free Relay alongside Grant, Paige Mitchell and Baker.

Biron, along with Meghan Gray, each added a pair of top-three finishes in both backstroke events as Biron won the 100 Backstroke with top time of 58.42 as Gray took third before Gray put together a runner-up swim in the 200 Back with Biron behind in third.

A pair of freshman in Flagiello and Alyvia Petrozzo added individual race wins for the Minutewomen. Flagiello took home the top spot in the 200 Breaststroke with a swim of 2:28.09 before Petrozza claimed the 200 IM with a mark of 2:13.09.

Stephanie Judge claimed a first and second-place finish in a pair of Butterfly events for UMass, taking home the 200 Fly earlier in the day with a time of 2:10.22 followed by Harnden in third before finishing as the runner-up in the 100 Fly as teammate Grant recorded the top time of 57.38.

Olga Egkorova and Kelly Malyszka finished inside the top-three in both distance events, beginning with a runner-up and third-place finish in the 1000 Free led by Malyszka before Egkorova won the 500 Free with a time of 5:13.03 while Malyszka took third.

The Minutewomen will return to the pool in two weeks when they head to Boston, Mass. to take on Boston University at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.
