Men's Soccer Heads To CCSU Tuesday Night

Minutemen and Blue Devils set for 7 PM match at the CCSU Soccer Field.
AMHERST, Mass. - Following a thrilling 2-1 win over Colgate last Saturday afternoon at Rudd Field, the UMass men's soccer team head's back out on the road this Tuesday night as the Minutemen face Central Connecticut State in New Britain, Conn. The match is slated for the a 7 PM kick-off at the CCSU Soccer Field and will be streamed live via NEC Front Row.
UMass enters the week with a 4-2-1 overall record having posted an unbeaten record at home this season (4-0-1) for its best home start in 20 years. The Minutemen's two losses this year have come at nationally ranked New Hampshire which sports the NCAA's top defense so far this season and at defending Ivy League champion Dartmouth.
All told, a pair of the home wins this year have come against teams which reached the 2016 NCAA Tournament in St. Francis and Colgate. The Minutemen have pitched a pair of home shutouts and conceded just three goals in five matches at Rudd Field.
Alex DeSantis continues to lead UMass with eight points on three goals and two assists. The offense has seen goal scoring by seven different players this year, while 11 overall have posted at least one point.
Defensively, the Minutemen continue to be one of the top units in the Atlantic 10. Keeper Bardia Asefnia holds a 0.97 goals-against-average and a 0.781 save percentage along with the two shutouts.
CCSU (3-3-0) is coming off a road win at Howard last Wednesday and will be playing at home for the first time since the Blue Devils' season-opener on Aug. 25 - a 2-1 overtime loss to UMass Lowell.
Following the Tuesday match, UMass will return to Rudd Field on Saturday, Sept. 23 (1 PM) to host Hartford. Admission is free to all.
