Hockey Reveals 2017-18 Schedule

AMHERST, Mass.– Sixteen regular-season home games and an exhibition contest vs. Queens University on Sept. 30 highlight University of Massachusetts hockey's 2017-18 schedule, announced on Tuesday. The schedule is comprised of 24 Hockey East games and 10 non-league contests with 12 of the home matchups being played on Fridays and Saturdays.
 
Highlights:
UMass will begin the season in Arizona, playing a pair at Arizona State on Oct. 6-7. The Minutemen's home slate will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 14, against Western Mass. foe American International. For the first time since 2002, UMass will take on Ohio State, facing the Buckeyes in Amherst on Oct. 20-21.
 
In the first year of a new format to the Hockey East schedule, the Minutemen will play 24 league games, 12 at home and 12 on the road. League play opens on Oct. 27 with UMass hosting Merrimack on the front end of a home-and-home. The Warriors are one of four opponents the Minutemen will face three times during the league schedule along with Providence (Nov. 9, Nov. 11, Feb. 24), Connecticut (Dec. 1, Dec. 5, Feb. 22) and Maine (Jan. 16, Jan. 26-27).
 
After playing at Union for the second time on Dec. 10, previously making a trip to Schenectady, New York to face the 2014 National Champions on Oct. 13, the Minutemen will remain idle until Jan. 5 when the squad will travel to Yale for its final non-conference game of the season.
 
Coming off seven straight on the road, UMass will host Northeastern on Jan. 19 for its first home game of 2018. The Minutemen will also face Maine (Jan. 26-27), Boston University (Feb. 2), Merrimack (Feb. 6), UMass Lowell (Feb. 10), Boston College (Feb. 15) and Providence (Feb. 24) in wrapping up its home slate.

Merrimack (Oct. 27-28, Feb. 6), New Hampshire (Nov. 4, Feb. 3), Providence (Nov. 9, Nov. 11, Feb. 24), Connecticut (Dec. 1, Dec. 5, Feb. 22), UMass Lowell (Jan. 6, Feb. 10), Vermont (Jan. 12-13), Maine (Jan. 16, Jan. 26-27), Northeastern (Jan. 19-20), Boston College (Jan. 23, Feb. 15), Boston University (Feb. 2, Feb. 9)
 
Beginning on June 20, fans can renew their season tickets at the early bird cost of $165 per ticket. New season tickets can be purchased for the same early bird price on June 22 before a price adjustment on August 9. The cost for senior citizens (age 65+) and UMass Faculty/Staff is $150. After a successful debut season in 2016-17, the Commonwealth Club returns for all UMass Hockey home games in 2017-18. Club access is open to Pond Club members at the Center Ice ($350) Level and above and includes the following amenities:

·         Beer and wine cash bar
·         Opens 60 minutes prior to faceoff
·         Access any time throughout the game
·         Complimentary snacks
