Hartford Up Next for Men's Soccer on Saturday Night

Minutemen head to Hawks to close out two-match road swing.
AMHERST, Massachusetts - After dropping a close come-back decision at No. 20 Vermont on Wednesday night, the UMass men's soccer team looks to conclude its two-match road swing on a high note this Saturday night at Hartford. The contest at Al-Marzook Field is set for a 7 p.m. kick off and will be streamed live on the America East Digital Network for free.
The Minutemen enter the match with a 1-6-1 overall record after falling behind by three goals early on Friday night. The first career goals for Andrew Barrowman and Mark Dunphy pulled UMass within a score, 3-2, at halftime. For all the offensive fireworks in the first half, the second stanza was a defensive stalemate with neither team able to score.
Hartford is on a two-match win streak after Wednesday's 1-0 win at Dartmouth on Wednesday night. The Hawks stand at 3-3-1 overall having won their last two outings and posting a 3-1-1 mark over the last five contests.
Alex DeSantis, who picked up another assist on Wednesday night, is the UMass leader in overall points (7) and goals (2). For DeSantis, his three assists this year ties his career-best for a season, while his seven points stand as a personal-best. So far this season, the Minutemen have seven different goal scorers follow Barrowman's and Dunphy's performance in Burlington.
Jorge Becerra made six saves against the Catamounts and has started all eight matches this season. He sports a 2.07 goals-against-average and a 0.721 save percentage.
The Hawks are led by Udi Cohen who has five points this year on a goal and three assists. Andri Jonasson and Jeff Tryon are the lone Hartford players with multiple goals having two on the year.
Jimmy Slaton has started the last five matches in net as part of Hartford's turnaround this season. In those games, he has compiled a 0.55 goals-against average with three shutouts and a 0.824 save percentage.
Follow the Hartford contest, UMass will have a week off before opening Atlantic 10 play next Saturday, Oct. 1 against Dayton at Rudd Field (1 p.m.). The Minutemen will stay at home on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to play Central Connecticut State as the final non-conference match of the year. Both events are free to attend and will be streamed live on the UMass/Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
