Pair of first half goals help Knights earn win over Minutewomen
ORLANDO, Florida - A pair of first half goals proved to much to overcome as the UMass women's soccer team fell 4-0 at UCF on Thursday night at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights received a pair of goals in the first half from Carol Rodrigues in the seventh minute and the 40th minute before scoring two more in the second half.
The Minutewomen will return to action on Sunday, Aug. 28 at No. 23 South Florida. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
After leading 2-0 at the half, UCF (1-2) received another goal from Cortney O'Connell just over four minutes into the second stanza. Zandy Soree added the final goal of the match in the 68th minute.
The Knights held a 13-to-5 advantage in shots over UMass (1-1) along with an 8-to-4 edge in cornerkicks.
Cassidy Babin made four saves in the loss, while her counterpart Vera Varis was pressed to make just two saves for UCF.
