Hailey Leidel scores 27 points, Maggie posts 21 points and 24 rebounds.
AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Hailey Leidel scored a game-high 27 points and junior Maggie Mulligan had a double-double with 21 points and 24 rebounds as the UMass women's basketball team defeated UMass Dartmouth 76-27 in exhibition play Thursday night at the Mullins Center.
The Minutewomen will officially open the season next Friday, Nov. 11 at Buffalo.
Along with Leidel and Mulligan, freshman Ryan Holder also scored 18 points. Leidel led UMass beyond the arc hitting 6-of-14 three-pointers, while Leah McDerment had a team-high nine assists.
UMass Dartmouth was led by Rachel McCarron who scored 11 points.
The Minutewomen jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter before going into halftime ahead 36-18. In the second half, despite have a short bench, UMass outscored the Corsairs 40-9.
