AMHERST, Mass. - After a late rally fell short at Buffalo on Friday night, the UMass women's basketball team returns to the Mullins Center to host North Dakota State on Monday night in the Minutewomen's home opener. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network. The contest is also part of the Kids Eat Free series of games at the Mullins Center this year.

UMass (0-1) is coming off a 61-47 loss against the defending MAC champion Bulls to start the season. Buffalo sprinted out to a 14-0 lead in the opening minutes, but the Minutewomen were able to fight back to within four, 41-37, early in the fourth quarter. Freshmen Hailey Leidel and Ryan Holder led UMass in the scoring column. Leidel notched 16 points to tie Buffalo's Katherine Ups for game-high honors, while Holder began her career with 13 points.

NDSU (1-0) opened its season with a 70-63 win over Dickinson State on Saturday night. The Bison used a 21-to-12 run in the fourth quarter to rally back for the win. Taylor Thunstedt hit seven three pointers to lead all scorers with 25 points. Sarah Jacobson and Emily Spier also had double-figure scoring nights with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Monday night will be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.
