Divers Emma Roush and Katie Polk Earn Weekly Accolades

AMHERST, Mass. - After a pair of standout performances on the diving boards, UMass sophomore Emma Roush has been named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, while freshman Katie Polk was tabbed the league’s Rookie of the Week. Roush was also honored as one of three UMass/Dinn Bros. Student-Athletes of the Week alongside Heather MacLean and Emilie Cowan.
For the Student-Athlete of the Week award, Roush will be recognized alongside MacLean and Cowan at the weekly UMass Sports Luncheon held in the Massachusetts Room of the Mullins Center. This week’s luncheon will begin at a special time of 10:30-11:30 a.m., so that fans can then attend the UMass women’s basketball game against Rhode Island which begins at Noon in the Mullins Center.
At the Dartmouth Invitational, Roush won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events as the only Minutewoman to post multiple wins. She turned in a career-best performance on the one-meter board with a score of 293.85 points which stands as the second-best mark in program history. She won the three-meter dive with a score of 275.35 points. During the two-day event, she beat out 15 other competitors from Boston College, Dartmouth and Northeastern.
Polk produced a pair of top-three finishes on the one-meter and three-meter dives at Dartmouth. She placed second in the one-meter event with 278.75 points and was third in the three-meter event with 260.55 points. Her score of 278.75 on the one-meter board ranks as the seventh-best all-time in program history. It was also 30 points better than her previous best mark this season. Her score of 260.55 on the three-meter board also tied her season-best point total.
