Career Performances Highlight Day Two Of Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - On day two of the Boston University Terrier Invitational, the UMass swimming teams produced nine times that rank among the top-10 in both programs' history. The Minutemen continue to hold onto first place after two days of races, while the Minutewomen remain in fourth.
Overall, the women's swim team produced five performances which rank among the top-10 all-time, while the men's team had four.
UMass saw two performers win their individual races as Meriza Werenski won the women's 400 individual medley with a time of 4:23.43. On the men's side, Kellen Gray won the 100 backstroke in a time of 48.90 seconds - the second fastest mark in program history.
The Minutewomen had a pair of top-10 times in the 400 IM. Just behind Werenski was Jenna Diamond who took second place in 4:24.71 - the second fastest result in program history. Jenn Robeson took sixth in the championship final with her time of 4:32.78 which ranks as the eight fastest time in UMass history.
Cassie Sosnovich placed second in the 100 fly (55.23 seconds), while Rachel Grant had the third fastest time in school history taking third (56.00) in the event.
In the 100 breast, Ansley Baker placed seventh (1:06.14) after swimming the program's fourth fastest time in the event (1:05.20) during the mornings preliminary session.
Turning in the seventh fastest time in program history in the 100 back was Maddie Biron who placed ninth with a time of 57.94 seconds.
Also scoring in the evening's championship finals was Mary Cohen in the 100 breast (1:06.38) and Rebecca Quirie who took sixth in the 100 back (57.69 seconds).
While the swimmers competed at in Boston, the divers were in day two of the Tennessee Invitational. Emma Roush highlighted the day with a seventh place finish in the 3-meter dive (244.45 points), while Julia Jagannath placed ninth (256.45 points) and Katie Polk placed 10th (255.55 points).
In men's action, Gray's win in the 100 back (48.90) set the second fastest time in program history. UMass also saw the seventh and eighth fastest marks in the 100 fly from Tommy Brennan (49.70, prelims) and Connar Patterson (49.84, prelims), respectively. Brennan finished the championship finals with a seventh place overall finish (50.21), while Patterson was just behind for eighth (50.28).
Kyle Stefanides also had one of the program's best times in the 100 back placing ninth (50.13) for the eighth fastest mark in school history.
Other top performances included a second-place finish by Oliver Wyeth in the 100 back (49.55) and a trio of championship finals performances in three different events.
In the 400 IM, UMass took fourth, six and seventh by Heath Maginn (3:59.87), Anthony Rizzo (4:03.52) and Evan Sholudko (4:05.08), respectively.
Owen Wright and Brian Stiles placed fourth and seventh in the 200 free, while Alex Mesisca and Alex D'Anna placed fourth and eighth in the 100 breast.
At the Tennessee Invitational, Trent Kindvall was the only competitor for UMass today taking 16th in the 1-meter dive scoring 236.35 points.
