Rowing Concludes First Day At Head of the Oklahoma Regatta

Race Results OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The University of Massachusetts rowing program opened its 2014-15 competitive season with a trio of first place finishes during day one at the Head of the Oklahoma, hosted in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Saturday. Newcomer Carly Zanatta took the top spot in the Women's Open Lightweight 1x before she teamed with sophomore Emily Mann to secure first in the Women's Opening Lightweight 2x.
UMass head coach Jim Dietz also entered into one race, the Men's Masters 1x E-J, and took first with an adjusted time of 14:58.
Zanatta and Mann capped their day with a second place finish in the Women's Open 2x 500m race with a time of 1:59 while another UMass duo, Krysten Menks and Sam Kolovson, finished in fourth only one second behind.
Menks and Kolovson entered in the Women's Open 1x as Zanatta and Mann completed the lightweight 1x. Menks secured fifth in 18:26 followed closely by Kolovson in six ith a time of 18:29. Menks and Kolovson also finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Women's Open 1x 500m event. Menks crossed at the 2:07 mark and Kolovson reached the finish line four seconds later.
Mann challenged Zanatta in the Women's Open Lightweight 1x and finished second in 18 minutes even while Menks and Kolovson participated in the Women's Open 2x and secured fourth in 16:50.
UMass concludes its opening weekend of races at the Head of the Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 5. Results can be found online here.
