HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth reserve Alex Adelabu scored twice to lift the Big Green past Massachusetts, 2-0, at Burnham Field Sunday.
The first goal came with 2:14 left in the first half when Collin Heffron sent a through ball down the right side of the field where Adelabu slipped it past UMass redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Nick Ruiz.
Dartmouth added an insurance goal early in the second half as Stefan Defregger headed a goal kick down field and Adelabu recorded his second score of the season at the 56:21 mark. The Big Green ended it's season-opening homestand with a 2-0-2 record.
UMass (0-5-1) outshot the Big Green 5-4 in the opening period before ending with 10 attempts and three on goal. Junior Josh Schwartz led the Minutemen with three shots, while sophomore Peter Alvarenga added two as both were saved by James Hickok.
Ruiz made five saves in goal and took the loss.
UMass will return home on Wednesday, Sept. 18, when it plays host to Fairfield (1-1-1). Kickoff at Rudd Field is set for 3:30 p.m. and admission is free.
