AMHERST, Mass. - UMass baseball freshman left-hander Conor LeBlanc has been tabbed the Co-Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. LeBlanc is the second Minuteman to be honored by the A-10 this season and is the first to earn a Rookie of the Week nod since Ryan Cusick did so twice in 2010.
In what was just his second career start, LeBlanc tossed 7.2 innings and scattered three hits, pitching UMass past Northeastern, 4-1, to advance to this week's Beanpot Championship game vs. Harvard. LeBlanc allowed just one run, while walking four and striking out two.
On the year, LeBlanc holds a 2-0 record and boasts a 1.45 earned run average in 18.2 innings with an opponent batting average of .172.
The Minutemen will be on the road tomorrow, Apr. 17, at Central Connecticut at 3 p.m. Originally scheduled to be played in Amherst, the contest was moved to allow for the completion of field improvement projects at Earl Lorden Field.
