PRINCETON, N.J. - Opening up one of the most competitive meets of the season, the men's track and field team was in action at Weaver Stadium in Princeton, N.J. on Friday evening. The steeplechase, 5K, 1500 meter run, and 800 meter run were all events that took place with Minutemen in them on day one.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Sean Duncan set a new personal record by crossing the line at 9:04.00. The senior is already IC4A Championships qualified in the event. Following Duncan were Scott VanderMolen and Joe Doyle in the 800 meter run. The duo placed 58th and 84th respectively with times of 1:54.70 and 1:56.58.
A trio of seniors completed day one action at Princeton University in the forms of Daniel Barry, Kevin Johnson, and David Johnson. Barry ran the 1500 meter run in 3:49.49, placing 17th in a competitive field, while being only a mere 0:00.49 away from setting the fifth best time in school history. The Johnson twins were at it again in the 5000 meter run after two weeks off. Kevin led the way finishing in 47th with a time of 14:34.95, while David followed in 48th with a time of 14:35.39. Both marks were good enough to qualify for the IC4A Championships, marking the second event that both brothers are eligible for at the Championship meet (10K being the other one).
Action resumes on Saturday for the conclusion of the two day event at 10 am.
