UMass committed four turnovers (1 INT, 3 Fumbles) in Saturday's game marking the fifth time this season UMass has had three or more turnovers. In the last two games, UMass has 10 give aways and two take-aways. Over the previous four games, UMass gave the ball away just twice compared to 11 take-aways.
Senior tailback Jonathan Hernandez cracked the 1,000-yard barrier for the season. He totaled 91 yards on 31 carries giving him 1,045 yards for the season. He also had 1 touchdown for his 12th of the season and the 29th of his career. He is the 10th player to rush for 1,000 yards since 1948.
Senior wide receiver Julian Talley also reached the 2,000-yard mark of his career passing Victor Cruz (5th) and Brandon London (4th) all-time at UMass. Talley had 107 yards on six catches giving him 2,033 yards for his career.
Talley also extended his reception streak to 28-consecutive games and went over 100-yards for a game for the sixth time in his career (4th time in 2011).
Senior lineback Shane Viveiros returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter marking his second career INT. It also marked the third interception returned for a touchdown by UMass this season.
Sophomore Raymond Pendagast made his first career start at quarterback for UMass going 19-of-31 for 237 yards and one touchdown. He had a long of 51 yards.
Perry McIntyre had a career-high 15 tackles on the day. It marked his fifth double-digit tackle performance of the season.
Tyler Holmes also posted double-digit tackles in the game with 11 giving him 347 for his career which ranks 5th all-time in program history.
The 144 yards gained by Pushaun Brown on the ground marked a season high for an opponent against UMass.
