Minutewomen Fall Just Short To Northeastern

Amherst, Mass. - After finishing just behind the Northeastern University two weeks ago at Boston University's Terrier Invitational the women's swim team just missed in their second chance falling again to the Huskies by a final score of 161.5-138.5. The first place 400 free relay team, which consisted of Christa Narus, Jennifer Corriveau, Elizabeth Walsh, and Kathryne Chalikis, set the pace for the Minutewomen as they each notched numerous first-place and top-three finishes.
Senior captain Christa Narus (Stony Brook, N.Y.) got the relay team off to a good start while she also added a first-place finish in the 200 fly (2:08.20) and second-place finishes in the 100 fly (59.04) and 200 free (1:55.87). Sophomore Jennifer Corriveau (Concord, N.H.) also added top finishes for the Minutewomen as she took first in the 100 free (53.54) and notched a time of 24.95 in the 50 free, finishing third.
Juniors Elizabeth Walsh (Marshfield, Mass.) and Kathryne Chalikis (Flemington, N.J.) swam the last two legs of the relay for the Minutewomen and together added 16 individual points in their respective events. Walsh took first-place in the 200 free (1:55.67) finishing just ahead of her senior captain while Chalikis contributed second and third-place points in the 50 free (24.61) and 100 free (53.90).
Freshmen Molly Papish (), Chelsea Downing (Falmouth, Mass.), and Kayla Tegeler () as well as sophomore Jessica Starosielec () all added top-five individual finishes for the Minutewomen in at least two events, combining for a total of 25 points. Downing and Papish both competed in the 1000 free finishing second and third respectively. Downing also added a third-place finish in the 500 free (5:17.87) and Papish, a fourth-place finish in the 200 back (2:18.48). Tegeler posted a third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:12.25) as well as a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM (5:16.77).
Starosielec notched a pair of second-place finishes as she finshed the 100 breast in 1:07.50 and the 200 breast in 2:25.12. The 200 breast was also the Minutewomen's best event of the day as they placed Meghan Nowak and Jackie Porter in third and fourth-place behind Starosielec notching nine points all together in the event.
The Minutewomen will break for finals and will return to action at the end of the month when they head to Puerto Rico with the men's team for the Loyola Invitational.
