Amherst, Mass. - UMass swimming and diving notched another win in New York on Saturday as they defeated Binghamton. While both diving teams dominated the board in both diving events, freshman Kayla Tegeler (Kingston, N.Y.) had her best performance of her career so far against Binghamton as she and junior Elizabeth Walsh (Marshfield, Mass.) paced the Minutewomen with two individual wins apiece as they rolled past Binghamton 195-105. Walsh also helped the medley relay team to a first-place finish. The Minutemen were led by senior captain Nate Bromage (Three Rivers, Mass.) as he too brought home two individual wins and swam the first leg for the first-place medley relay team, helping the men's team to a 162-138 victory. The Minutemen improved to 2-0 all-time against Binghamton while the Minutewomen are now 3-0 all-time with their win on Saturday.

Junior Elizabeth Walsh led the way for the Minutewomen as she placed first in her usual 100 back (1:00.48) and also the 100 free (53.94) while she also swam the first leg for the 400 free relay team, helping them to a first-place finish as well. Freshman Kayla Tegler also helped pace the Minutewomen as she added a pair of first-place finishes in the 1000 free (10:53.90) and the 200 fly (2:10.97).

The women's team also took advantage of their depth as they had four swimmers winning one individual event as well as placing in the top-three in others, gaining crucial points for the Minutewomen. Senior leader Christa Narus (Stony Brook, N.Y.) took first in the 100 fly (59.15) and second in the 500 free (5:23.12) while junior Kathryne Chalikis (Flemington, N.J.) placed first in the 50 free (25.03) and finished just behind Narus in the 100 fly (1:01.25).

Freshman Chelsea Downing (Falmouth, Mass.) stuck to her winning ways as she took the top spot in the 500 free (5:21.91) and placed second in the 200 free (1:59.41), as teammate Tavis Potter (Stillwater, Minn.) notched the top spot in the 200 IM (2:14.28) while also bringing home second and third place points in the 100 breast (1:09.97) and 200 breast (2:31.69) for the Minutewomen.

Senior diver Karen Upperco (Titusville, N.J.) returned to the board in full force this week after sitting out last week with an injury. Upperco took first on both diving events scoring 251.32 in the one-meter dive and 279.75 in the three-meter dive. Senior Sarah Horstmann (Hockessin, Del.) and sophomore Anne Fogerty (Allentown, Pa.) rounded out the top three on the board for the Minutewomen as Fogerty took second in both events and Horstmann took third in both.

Freshman Jason Cook (Amherst, Mass.) led the way for the men's diving team as he remains undefeated in the three-meter dive and won his third straight one-meter with scores of 310.65 and 308.55. Teammates Adam Duffield (Brookfield, Conn.) and Byron Johnson (Tauton, Mass.) took third and fourth respectively in the one-meter dive while John Clark (Westport, Conn.) finished third, Adam Duffield finished fourth and Byron Johnson finished fifth in the three-meter dive.

Senior Nate Bromage and Mike Berthaume (Hampden, Mass.) took first and second respectively in the 100 and 200 fly events. Bromage finished his races in 51.57 and 1:56.59 while Berthaume finished the 100 fly in 52.18 and the 200 fly in 1:58.57.

Freshman Joey Sbordon (Franklin, Mass.) was also a top finisher for the Minutemen as he notched two first-place finishes in the 1000 free (9:44.73) and the 500 free (4:44.16) and placed second for the first time in his career in the 200 free (1:45.83). Junior Juan Moliere (San Juan, P.R.) won the 100 free with a time of 47.89 while also dropping to second in the 50 free (21.75) for the first time since last season.

Junior Andrew Willbrant (Londonderry, N.H.) also added points for the Minutemen with a first-place finish in the 100 back (52.66). Willbrant, along with Brian Schmidt (Falmouth, Mass.), Berthaume, and Moliere, helped the 200 medley relay team to second-place finish while Bromage, Sbordon, Max Butler (Duxbury, Mass.), and Moliere teamed up to bring home a first-place finish in the 400 free relay.
