UMass finishes third behind Brown and BU

UMass Varsity Eight Finishes Third In The Charles

Boston, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team raced against Brown, Boston University and Texas in the Charles River on Saturday morning. Brown would win every race and win the regatta.

The UMass varsity eight finished third with a time of 7:12.0. Brown won with a time of 6:56.4. BU was second (7:08.7) and Texas (7:16.5) was fourth.

In the second varsity eight race, the UMass boat was fourth with a time of 7:47. Brown (7:05.5) won, Texas was second (7:24.2), and BU finished third (7:24.9).

UMass was fourth in the novice eight (7:57.9). Brown won that event (7:15.6) with Texas second (7:17.1), and BU third (7:48.7).

Brown's "B" boat won the varsity four (7:57.55) with their "A" boat coming in second (8:12.67). BU (8:21.55) was third, followed by Texas (8:27.20) and UMass (9:01.59).

UMass' novice four was fourth in its race with Brown's third varsity four and Brown and BU's novice four.

The Minutewomen will race again on Saturday, April 22, at the Atlantic 10 championships on the Cooper River near Camden, N.J. UMass will be looking to win its 11th straight title.
