AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts (3-4-1) took Dartmouth (5-2-0) to double-overtime on Wednesday, but fell just short and dropped the 1-0 contest to the Big Green at Rudd Field. Dartmouth, which is ranked as the Northeast Region's No. 4 team, took 30 shots overall but was denied every chance to score by UMass netminder Kristin Walker. Walker made 17 saves in the game, setting a personal record for saves in a single game. Her previous record was 13, set on Oct. 15, 2004 vs. Dayton.

"I'm obviously disappointed, but I'm disappointed for my team," said UMass head coach Jim Rudy. "In the past we might have let up, but my team kept it tight the whole game and gave it their all. Dartmouth is a great team and we stayed in this one."

Walker was phenomenal in net for the Minutewomen, turning away a one-on-one opportunity late in the first, before making stellar saves on free kicks and headers in the second. Overall, Walker made seven saves in the first and six in the second. She made one in the first 10-minute OT and three additional saves in the second extra session.

Dartmouth's gamewinning goal at 106:50 was by Sarah Johnson, unassisted, on a free kick.

Massachusetts returns to action this Saturday when the Fairfield Stags come to Amherst. Game time is set for Noon.
