Holy Cross Beats UMass Women's Soccer In Exhibition Action

HUNTINGTON, Mass. - The College of Holy Cross defender Sara Simeone scored at the 74:22 to break a scoreless tie and lead the Crusaders to a 1-0 victory over the University of Massachusetts in exhibition action at Huntington High School tonight. UMass opens it's regular season as host Boston College next Saturday, September 1, at Agawam High School. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
The Holy Cross goal came when forward Lynette Zickl drew UMass goalkeeper Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) out of the net and then crossed the ball to Simeone who had an empty net to shoot at. Midfielders Brooke Bartlett (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Martha Conover (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the UMass attack with three shots apiece.
Podhrasky finished the game four saves while Holy Cross goalkeeper Christine Arsenault had three.
