UMass Women's Soccer Adds Alumnus To Staff

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts head women's soccer coach Jim Rudy announced today the hiring of former UMass standout Rebecca Myers as his assistant coach. Myers, who replaces Dan Magner, begins her duties this week.
Myers comes to UMass after spending two years as an assistant coach with the University of Dayton women's soccer team. There she handled all aspects of recruiting as well as assisted in coaching and summer camps.
She has served as head coach of the Chicago Sockers Under 12 and 15 teams (2000) as well as the Under 18 team (1999). The Dayton Club Under 15 Premier Team head coach in 1997-98, she also served as assistant coach of the Ohio South Olympic Development Premier Under 16 and 17 teams during that time period.
As a player, Myers was a member of the Women's Soccer League Chicago Cobras (1997-2000) which took home the national championship in 2000. Prior to that, she was a four-year letterwinner for UMass (1993-96).
As a Minutewoman, she was a member of four Atlantic 10 Conference championship teams as well as three NCAA Sweet 16 teams and one Final Four team (1993). She garnered numerous accolades over her career including Soccer America All-America honors three times. Myers was selected Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year in 1993 and earned all-conference honors four straight years. She was a three-time All-Tournament Team member, earning the Most Valuable Player award in 1994. Myers finished her career with 38 goals and 102 points, currently ranking her third and second, respectively in the UMass record book. She also ranks among the top 10 in assists (25) and shots (194).
Myers, a native of Marietta, Ga., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from UMass in 1997.
