BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving won its fourth Atlantic 10 Championship this afternoon after the last day of the three day competition. UMass earned 848 points with St. Bonaventure placing second with 661 points.
Senior Billy Brown (Fullerton, Calif.) won the 200 breast with a NCAA B time, A-10 and school-record time of 1:58.66. This is Brown's fourth career A-10 individual title and it helped him earn the Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet. Head coach Russ Yarworth was named the A-10 Coach of the Year for the third time in his career. He also received the honor in 1996 and 2000.
Senior Chris Arsenault (Peabody, Mass.) won his sixth A-10 title with a winning time of 45.09 in the 100 free. Freshman Conner Townsend (Memphis, Tenn.) won his first-ever A-10 title with a win in the 200 fly with a time of 1:53.42.
The 400 free relay team of Arsenault, senior Mike Sabina (Avon, Mass.), sophomore Chad Arnold (Mohnton, Pa.) and junior Ryan Fisher (Santa Barbara, Calif.) won the event with a time of 3:03.26.
