WASHINGTON, D.C .- George Washington University scored three goals while holding the Minutewomen scoreless to take the 3-0 win this afternoon at the GW-Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. The loss marks the second straight Atlantic 10 defeat for the Minutewomen who entered the weekend with an unblemished 7-0 A-10 record.
The Colonials got on board early as Kim Warner converted on a feed from Tiffany Williams at the 1:13 mark. GW found the back of the net again in the 40th minute when Williams set up Meghan Cracker in the box and Cracker pushed the ball into the lower right corner to take the 2-0 lead into the half.
GW returned from the break with another quick score with a Williams loft into the far corner of the net off a pass from Caite Terranova.
UMass out-shot the Colonials 16 to 13 but five saves by Christine O'Malley preserved the GW shutout.
The Minutewomen close out the regular season next weekend as they host A-10 leaders Dayton on Friday, Nov. 2 at 3:00 p.m. and Xavier on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1:00 p.m. at Totman Field.
